What If My PCP Claim Is Rejected?

What If My PCP Claim Is Rejected?

Reasons a PCP Claim May Be Rejected

Your lender or finance provider may reject a claim if:

  • They believe the finance agreement was properly explained at the time of purchase.
  • They claim that commission was not a factor in setting your interest rate.
  • The agreement is outside the eligibility period for a claim.

If your claim is unfairly rejected, we can escalate the case to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) for independent review.

What Happens When a Claim Is Referred to the Ombudsman?

If a claim is escalated:

  1. The FOS will request all relevant documents from the finance provider and us.
  2. They will conduct an independent investigation into whether you were mis-sold the finance agreement.
  3. If the FOS rules in your favour, the lender must provide compensation.

Many claims initially rejected by lenders are later upheld by the FOS, so appealing a rejection is often worthwhile.

How Long Does an Appeal Take?

The Financial Ombudsman Service receives a high volume of cases, and their investigation process can take several months. However, we will keep you updated throughout the appeal.
